President & Chief Executive Officer
As President and Chief Executive Officer, Mikita sees leading Proterra as an incredible opportunity to work with our team to leave a lasting legacy for the environment and the American taxpayer. Prior to joining Proterra Mikita spent 25 years in senior leadership roles in Fortune 50 companies including serving as the President of the Defense & Space strategic business unit of Honeywell Aerospace, where he led the $5.3 billion organization. Mikita also served as President of Air Transport & Regional, a $4.7 billion business unit of Honeywell Aerospace. He has a long record of innovative leadership, successful sales campaigns and customer service. He is committed to the Proterra mission of building a world-leading electric bus fleet and transit system.
Mikita and his wife Deborah enjoy time with family, staying physically fit and outdoor activities.
Chief Financial Officer
As CFO, Rich brings extensive experience in improving finance teams, processes, controls and ultimately – building plans that are highly credible, aggressive and achievable. Prior to joining Proterra, Rich worked for Toyota Boshoku America as Vice President, Finance and Accounting and CFO. At Toyota he managed over $2B in annual sales and led efforts to increase profit by $150M. Before Toyota, Dave worked at Ford Motor Co. in Finance, Manufacturing, Marketing, Product Development and Business Development.
Rich has both a Masters’ degree and a Bachelors’ degree in Finance from the University of Illinois. Dave is married to Annette and has two sons. He enjoys sports, live music and live comedy.
Vice President Government Relations and General Counsel
McCarthy oversees all legal operations and government relations and brings 17+ years of litigation, general counsel and executive leadership experience to Proterra. Before joining Proterra, he served as the Executive Vice President and General Counsel of Seneca One Finance, Inc., a specialty finance company in Bethesda, Maryland. Previously, he was the General Counsel of Honeywell Technology Solutions, Inc., a Honeywell subsidiary responsible for defense and space services, and Missiles, a business segment of Honeywell Aerospace. Prior to joining Honeywell’s Aerospace business unit, Eric was an antitrust trial litigator, and was a Partner in the Antitrust & Competition practice groups of Latham & Watkins LLP and Howrey. McCarthy received his JD from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and his AB from Dartmouth College.
Eric is married to Lacy Berrington and is the proud father of 3 children. The family recently relocated from Potomac, MD. In his spare time, Eric enjoys coaching youth sports and following his beloved New York sports teams.
Vice President Marketing
As VP of Marketing, McNary’s works to expand the message that the Proterra EcoRide significantly reduces operating costs while delivering clean, quiet transportation. McNary received her MBA from Arizona State University and a Bachelors of Science in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Arizona. Most recently Heidi was the VP of Product Development and Engineering at Hawker Beechcraft in Kansas. At Hawker, Heidi led the technical and program management of the organization. She also established a flexible investment roadmap based on market demand, organizational capability, affordability and payback. Before Hawker, Heidi served as the Executive VP Sales and Marketing and Chief Operating Officer at Decrane Aerospace. Heidi has also worked at Honeywell and Allied Signal. Heidi is married to John, and they have a 4 year old son named Jack. In her spare time Heidi likes to garden, hike and travel.
Vice President of Engineering
Proterra’s Vice President of Engineering John Sleconich is responsible for new product development, compliance, technical publications, quality, and product safety. He also oversees engineering product support for all vehicles in production and in service.
John joins Proterra with over 25 years’ experience at two of the world’s foremost aerospace companies. Most recently, he served as Director of Systems Engineering for Cessna Aircraft Company in Wichita, Kansas. As Vice President of Engineering, John drives Proterra’s engineering team to attain its full potential and ultimately become the industry leader.
A graduate of Southern Illinois University, John holds two Bachelor of Science degrees in both Business Economics and Electrical Engineering. The Sleconich family, including his wife Debbie and three of their four daughters, relocated to Greenville from Wichita, Kansas.
Vice President of Sales
Fay brings over 20 years’ industry experience and a proven track record of developing, implementing and executing go-to market strategies. He most recently worked for Clever Devices as Vice President and Managing Director of North Carolina operations, where he led Clever Care Sales and Service Organization along with all OEM relationships. Before Clever Devices, he held senior management positions with Digital Recorders, TwinVision, ElDorado National Bus Company, and Blue Bird. Bill received his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Lowell in Lowell, Massachusetts. He is married to Lida and has two children, Catherine and Bradford.
Vice President of Operations
As VP Operations, Jim oversees both Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management (SCM) with a focus on factory throughput and structure. Before Proterra, Jim worked at Tomkins Industrial & Automotive as VP Supply Chain where he was responsible for the strategic direction, development and deployment of the organization. Jim oversaw the global spending of $2.5 Billion per year. He deployed global procurement software and managed 23 unique ERP platforms. He drove over $100 million in savings across direct and indirect spending through operational improvement between Manufacturing, Engineering and Procurement. Jim also spent 8 years with Honeywell Aerospace, most recently as VP Integrated Supply Chain. He drove lean manufacturing throughout global factories driving double digit productivity, while also decreasing inventories by 15%. He also succeeded in a 20% improvement in linearity of production schedules to demand, and reengineered sales, inventory, and operations.
In his spare time Jim enjoys time with his wife Laure and 4 children and sports.
Director of Human Resources
As Director of Human Resources, Reid brings more than 15 years of progressive Human Resources experience managing planning and strategy, associate relations, recruiting, human resources, and change management. Prior to Proterra, Cissy managed the start-up recruitment for ZF Transmissions. She has also managed the professional service division for Human Technologies Inc, a human resource solution provider with overall revenue of more than $25 million. Reid has previously assisted more than six startup companies with their recruitment efforts. Cissy is a native of Greenville, South Carolina, enjoys traveling and is an avid Clemson fan.
