Electric-Bus Maker Proterra Hires Former Tesla Executive as COO

Proterra Inc., a Silicon Valley-based maker of electric transit buses, named former Tesla Motors Inc. manufacturing executive Josh Ensign as chief operating officer to oversee an increase in production.
Ensign is one of several manufacturing executives who left Tesla in recent months, in part because such expertise is in high demand in Silicon Valley. Facebook Inc. in June hired Rich Heley, who was Tesla’s vice president of product technology, to lead its manufacturing. Proterra and other electric-vehicle startups have also been seeking production executives in the region.
