CORPUS CHRISTI REGIONAL TRANSPORTATION AUTHORITY AND PROTERRA OFFER FREE ZERO-EMISSION, BATTERY-ELECTRIC BUS TEST RIDES

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, November 21, 2016 – The future of transportation is coming to the Corpus Christi Regional Transportation Authority (CCRTA), with the electric bus manufacturer, Proterra Monday, November 21, from 3:30- 4:30 p.m. at the Staples Street Center for a free test ride.

With an industry push to increase the use of electric vehicles and buses within transit agencies the CCRTA wants to invite the community to discuss transportation among each other as well as test ride the Proterra Catalyst bus.

The CCRTA has been known to be an industry leader in the newest transportation technology to better assist riders and to continue to reduce its carbon footprint. The CCRTA currently uses a combination of CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) and diesel buses within its fleet. The electric vehicles are being considered as an addition to the CCRTA’s current fleet.

“We want to get the community excited about the possibilities of electric buses. The transit industry is at a very exciting place with new technologies that will benefit societies.” said Kelly Coughlin, Director of Marketing.

Proterra is rapidly reinventing the transit industry with Catalyst® battery-electric vehicles. Communities across North America have already put these high performance buses to the test through more than 2.5 million miles of service.

Designed from the start as an exclusively electric vehicle, the Catalyst delivers exceptional route flexibility and proven operational performance, with the greatest range of any zero-emission, battery-electric bus in its class
